Additional information
Can’t keep your rabbit anymore?
The shelter is over capacity. For an indefinite period, ALSA lacks the human, material and financial resources to take in more rabbits.
If the rabbit was adopted from the shelter, we take them back at any time, whatever our capacity. That’s our promise. Write to the volunteer who handled your adoption.
Other options
- Assess the main reason for surrender. Behaviour, litter habits? Spaying or neutering solves most of these hormonal issues. More protected space, chew toys and especially foraging toys bring improvement within weeks.
- Check with your municipality: most entrust animal management to a shelter, SPA or SPCA that has the mandate to take in your animal.
- A family member or friend.
- Never release a domestic rabbit into the wild : cold, no food in winter, predators… it’s a false freedom and a predictable death.
